Classic Track Day News

Beezumph is back at Cadwell; the Morini Riders Club are there the day before; the Festival of 1000 Bikes is nearly full, and Thundersprint welcomes modern motorcycles…

The Trident and Rocket 3 Owners’ Club have confirmed that their ever-popular Beezumph track day will return to Cadwell Park circuit in 2013. The event will have a new, single-day format with track sessions open to all makes and age of motorcycles on Saturday 27th July 2013. As you might expect with the TR3OC, there will also be a rally and camping on the Saturday night.

Track sessions cost £130 (discounted to £110 for members of the TR3OC), and will be split into four classes to ensure that everyone rides with compatible machines. The categories include Classic (pre-1985); Fast Classic (pre-1985 and a bit nippy); Race/Quick (pre-1985 bikes ridden with vigour) and Open, which for the first time allows any age of bike to join the Beezumph fun.

If all that sounds a little bit intimidating, and you don’t have any experience of riding on track days before, then the TR3OC have kept a special ‘entry level’ class for you. This is especially suitable for anyone who is unfamiliar with Cadwell’s curves or who’d just like to take a spin on a race circuit in relaxed circumstances. Entry Level rides include one track session in the morning and another in the afternoon, each of 15 minutes, which are fully marshalled. These cost £30 for all entrants and any solo motorcycle is acceptable.

Rally Tickets are also available. These don’t include any track sessions but do cover camping, food on the Saturday night and a rally badge for £15 (children’s food tickets are £3 each). Entry forms can be downloaded from

Thundersprint welcomes modern machines

This year’s Thundersprint is on April 21st at Anglesey, giving riders the chance to test themselves against the spectacular two-mile track in timed competition. The emphasis is on having fun rather than hard-faced competitive riding, with entrants riding one at a time under ACU rules for a timed sprint.

Previous Thundersprints have only catered for older classics, but the organisers have added a new class for 2013, the ‘Powerbike’ category, for bikes manufactured after 1989.

All Thundersprint entrants get to ride their bikes in three 15 minutes track sessions, plus the Cavalcade. See for full details.
